Let’s Wrestle
Was a huge fanboy of this band when they came out. Youthful energy, catchy irreverent songs about eating crayons and collecting records had me in daze. First E.P. In Loving Memory… captures the energy that this band had in spades.
They ended up signing to Merge, got a new bassist for their debut and re-recorded many of the songs and it somewhat lost the spark for me. It lost that ramshackle edginess and not surprising they disbanded after their second album. Wesley is still playing and is on my radar to see him live again.
Crystal Stilts
I did like the Crystal Stilts dour New York art school garage sound and stage presence. It did feel most of the people at the Windmill that night were there for the cool factor. Wasn’t surprised to hear them end with a lesser know to me at least Velvet’s song.
