Shellac of North America

10 Bob

My good buddy Nat bought me a ticket to see Shellac last week at Koko in Camden. We went and saw them last about three years ago (was it that long ago Nat… can’t be?) at Scala and managed to get up the front right in front of Todd Trainer where Nat could drool and have an ear ringing for the next few days from his kick drum. Tonight was no different.

Shellac are always entertaining, sound pristine and solid. Ever reliable. Old songs were played slower which twarted the small but somewhat annoying mosh pit that assembled. Choice tracks of the night were “Squirrel Song”, “Prayer to God” and a new one from the imminent album… the main lyricical hook went something like, “This is the World Service, are you receiving me?”. Simmering!

I so love this band, both of their albums have been on heavy rotation since the end of last year. Thanks to Van for putting me onto them about a year ago. Here is their latest video from the album All This Time…. *sigh* Rock chics!

The Pixies were just a band…
